How We Work
We don’t just advocate –
we activate
Our work is anchored in one clear mission: to teach the business of filmmaking and build sustainable pathways to ownership, leadership, innovation, and global market access for Black mid-career producers in Canada and across the diaspora.
Through our flagship programs, accelerator platform, and industry initiatives, we equip Black Producers to own their IP, build scalable companies, unlock access to capital, and compete and lead globally. As the screen industries evolve, we are embracing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, with intention and responsibility—ensuring Black Producers are not left behind by industry transformation, but are empowered to participate in and shape it in ethical, informed, and sustainable ways. We are removing gatekeepers, creating new corridors of opportunity, and fueling ecosystems that are self-determined, future-ready, community-rooted, and globally recognized.
We don’t just create access – we create power.
At IMPACT, we intentionally capitalize Black Producer because the term represents more than an occupational label. It speaks to a distinct lived and professional identity shaped by creative leadership, authorship, ownership, and the structural conditions Black Producers face in the screen industry. This choice reflects our commitment to recognizing and affirming the visibility, value, and unique contributions of Black Producers across Canada’s arts and media landscape.
Our Vision
We envision a screen industry where Black producers:
Own their intellectual property, ensuring sovereignty over their stories.
Lead globally competitive companies that are innovative, profitable, and sustainable.
Shape cultural, economic, and policy futures with the authority and influence they deserve.
This is not about fitting into a system that was never designed for us. This is about redefining what’s possible.
