Malcolm Odd

(Quebec)

Malcom is a transdisciplinary artist who completed his bachelor's degree in philosophy with a specialization in visual arts at the University of Sherbrooke. He is currently a filmmaker and painter based in Tio'tia:ke, Montreal. His first script gave rise to a documentary entitled Portraits: un regard (2017), subjects highlighting the journey of four people with disabilities and their integration into society. This trial aired on Bell Fibe TV1. The same year, he was curator for the first art exhibition around Black History Month for the Center culturel de Sherbrooke, a major institution of Quebec culture. In 2020, as an independent producer, he co-founded an independent film production company with his younger brother INZU.
 

He writes and directs a first short film entitled In your palm (2021) which this year is part of the official selection among others of the Rendez-vous. Québec Cinéma 39th edition, the Festival Afro Urbain de Montréal and the Cinefest de Lisbon. This year, he is also the recipient of a Canada Council for the Arts research grant for his next painting exhibition entitled Afro-Hivernal and a Mainfilm Prism grant in development for his television series Busboy.
