I.M.P.A.C.T is working to secure a bright future for those of Afro-descent and who identify as Black producers of all intersectional identities in Canada and Québec. We understand the challenges facing producers from the Black community and we have the collective strength and expertise to advocate for an equitable, fair and prosperous entertainment industry. All of our advocacy work, programs, activities and events serve one goal: to uplift, amplify and ensure the success of our members. Take a look at one of our key accomplishments in 2020.

Member Benefits

Each member of I.M.P.A.C.T will have the opportunity to join a committee and subcommittee to help advocate on behalf of the organization. The representation of our Board of Directors means that I.M.P.A.C.T is always TRUTHFULLY representing those of Afro-descent and who identify as Black producers!  

 

Members will also have the chance to work directly on specific industry initiatives through our committees and subcommittees.  In addition, I.M.P.A.C.T will partner with other marginalized organizations in order to provide members with access to broadcasters, production equipment, as well as legal, accounting, production and post-production services.  I.M.P.A.C.T will also create and host workshops, panel discussions, industry events, professional training and anti-oppression/anti-racism training.

Mentorship programs

I.M.P.A.C.T's upcoming career trajectory programs will connect our members with other marginalized and like-minded organizations in order to support and nurture the careers of the next crop of producers of Afro-descent and that identify as Black.  By tapping into the wealth of Canadian Black mentors that already exist and pairing them with the next class of Afro-descent and those who identify as Black producers of all intersectional identities, I.M.P.A.C.T will ensure the baton is passed in a smooth way to ensure a furious new era of Black Excellence is ushered in.

Professional Development

I.M.P.A.C.T will work with its members to determine their priorities for professional development, and then will develop and/or partner with other like-minded organizations to create workshops, panels, webcasts and other networking events in order to help create business opportunities and build capacity for member companies in Canada and Internationally.  Members will also receive discounts for business-boosting professional development courses, workshops and industry events.

I.M.P.A.C.T has four membership categories.

Which category is for you?

Emerging

Independent Producers who are of Afro descent and who identify as Black, of all intersectional identities engaged in the creation of film, television or interactive/digital media production, and music production or a company that is majority owned and operated by either people of African descent and/or that identify as Black.

Membership fee for 2021/22 membership year
 

  • $75.00 (Introductory year special fee)

  • $100.00 (following 2 years)

Supporting

Individuals or companies who are not producers but offer necessary services to producers (e.g., financial, legal, facilities). Inclusive of non-Black identifying communities and/or producers who are focused on dismantling systemic racism and creating lasting change in the film, television, media, and music industries.

  • 1 -     $750.00 

  • 2–3 - $1,200.00 

  • 4-6 - $2,500.00

  • 7-9 - $3,200.00

Mid-Career

Companies or Independent Producers who are of Afro descent and who identify as Black, of all intersectional identities whose companies are provincially or federally incorporated and that are engaged in the production of film, television or digital media, and music and have produced two or more of the following: short film, feature film, digital or interactive media, television series, documentary, and music albums, videos and projects.

The membership of a parent company covers all of its subsidiary companies.

Established

Companies and Independent Producers who are of Afro descent and who identify as Black, of all intersectional identities provincially or federally incorporated that are engaged in the production of film, television or digital media and music who have produced projects that have been accepted into established festivals, domestic or international television sales and successful record of digital or interactive media project sales.

  • $1,000 (voluntarily) Top up to support membership fees for producers where the fee is a barrier of entry.
