MACKENZIE DONALDSON is a Toronto and Los Angeles based producer, director and
writer. Named “One to Watch” by Playback’s Top 5 in 2015 and a 2016 TIFF Emerging
Canadian Filmmaker, Mackenzie is most well known for her work producing the critically acclaimed; Emmy, Peabody and CSA award-winning; and Golden Globe nominated show Orphan Black (S1-5). Mackenzie executively produced the award-winning digital series Whatever, Linda, which she is now adapting into an hour long TV drama with Connie Britton attached to star and produce. This will be a co-production through Mackenzie's company The Donaldson Company and Britton’s Deep Blue Productions and will be Executively Produced by Mackenzie's producing partner Graeme Manson (Snowpiercer, Orphan Black).
After producing a handful of award-winning short films, Mackenzie released her first
feature film, and directorial debut, The Definites in 2017 through Mongrel Media and
Turn Key Films. She wrote directed and produced her next short film Little Black
Dress in 2018 which won the Best Short Film award at the Forrest City Film Festival
Currently Mackenzie is in development on a handful of features including Her
Collection, which she is producing with Verve and Nowhere, The Last Weekend which she is co-writing with the award winning playwright Kat Sandler and will be producing and directing, and Whimper written by Cheryl Meyer and Anthony Grant, which Mackenzie is attached to produce and direct.
Most recently, Mackenzie produced Snowpiercer for TNT/Netflix, from Tomorrow
Studios/ITV, released world-wide in May 2020. And her first feature documentary,
directed by Trish Dolman, will be released worldwide by Showtime on October 30th 2020.
